GDPR and Google follow-up: The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the new one law about protection data of the European Unions, which has entered into force since May 25, 2018.
Prior to this date, all companies operating in the EU, updated their policies and the content of the user consent request. So Google announced new policies for users of its services in the European Economic Area (EEA).
The company clarified today that the law requires the express consent of users for the use of the different cookies it uses for collection, disclosure and use of personal data for ad personalization purposes.
Google made the options available to the public projectionof advertisements (described below) for users of its services in the EEA. Let's look at the different advertising already:
Google: Personalized Ads
Google may continue to display both personalized and non-personalized ads to users in the EEA.
With the personalized ads users are approached based on their interests, demographics and other criteria. Advertising technology providers may collect, receive and use personal data of users with personalized ads.
Google: Non-personalized ads
The projection non-personalized ads is done by using information based on the environment and not on the previous behavior of users. Although these ads do not use the same cookie used to personalize ads, they do use a different type of cookie to allow frequency and aggregate ad reporting, as well as to deal with fraud and abuse. Therefore, user consent is again required for the use of cookies for all the reasons above.
So from today all pages can choose what kind of ads they will serve. At iGuRu.gr, of course, we chose the non-personalized ads, which according to the company's statements collect less data. However, you should know that by using the website you accept them as well new terms service provider.
