Google Chrome Advanced Protection Program

Google Chrome will protect selected users from dangerous downloads with the help of the Advanced Protection Program ( or simply APP), which was originally launched by the company in 2017.

AAP's goal was to provide users with a high likelihood of becoming targets of cyberattacks, such as journalists, activists and politicians, in the arsenal necessary to remain protected when accessing their Google accounts.

But if you look at how threats are evolving, 2017 seems to be a long way off. So Google is now expanding its program to include Google Chrome, stopping malicious downloads that could be used in complex cyber attacks.

"Οι χρήστες Προχωρημένου Προγράμματος Προστασίας ( Protection Program) that have sync enabled in Chrome will automatically start having stronger protections against dangerous web downloads, for files that contain malicious . Οι χρήστες της Προηγμένης Προστασίας έχουν επωφεληθεί ήδη με την προστασία από κακόβουλο λογισμικό στις υπηρεσίες ασφαλείας του Gmail," they said Shuvo Chatterjee, Product Manager, APP, and Kiran Nair, Product Manager, Chrome.

But the attackers have shifted their strategies to continue threatening Advanced Protection users, from emails to drive-by downloads, to unknowingly download harmful software to their devices.

Users who will be using the program will start seeing a pre

The new service does not require a user-friendly change, as the feature is automatically activated regardless of the platform on which Google Chrome is running.

On the other hand, what should be done is to enable the synchronization function in the browser to allow the Advanced Protection system to perform and to exclude malicious downloads.
