As reports of a devastating earthquake in Nepal continue to rise this morning, Google the Person Finder, a crowdsourced, missing database.
Its objective companys is to help earthquake victims locate their loved ones.
The web application Person Finder, which offers support in English and Nepali languages, it allows users to search for them losttheir friends and family members by name. Interested parties can even share information if there are reports of someone.
Google first launched Person Finder in 2010, after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, and since then appears to have developed the app by testing it during duration several other major natural disasters, such as the earthquakes in India and Turkey.
Until Saturday afternoon, about 1.700 reports had been posted.
The earthquake was 7.8 Richter size and is reported to be the worst hit the poor country of South Asia in the last 80 years. The dead had almost reached 1.400, and searches continue.
