On this day, August 11, 1973, at a school party in the Bronx, New York, DJ Kool Herc had an amazing idea that created a new style in hip hop, the break. Playing at the same time as turntable, extended the orchestral breaks allowing the audience to dance longer. A style that later became dance, breakdancing, art, fashion and a bunch of others.

Today's doodle Google has been crafted by graffiti artist Cey Adams and has 2 interactive turntables that allow you to create your own samples using well-known songs directly from the Google homepage.

To get started, all you have to do is control the two turntables with your mouse, creating sound effects. You can choose to automatically sync the two songs or do it manually. You also have the choice of playing songs from a wide range of classic songs by artists such as George Clinton, The Isley Brothers, Billy Squire, and Betty Wright.

Although it is not the first time Google has been offering interactive music through doodle, Google's Ryan Germick said the project is one of the most complex in the company's history.

The band also worked with hip hop music industry veterans such as Fab 5 Freddy and Lyor Cohen, who is currently the head of YouTube Music, to create the range of artists that will be incorporated into the project.

Doodle can be seen on the Google homepage. If you want to learn more about the history behind this Google project you can visit this blog.
