Η Google εγκαινίασε ένα νέο API κειμένου για το Mobile Vision framework που επιτρέπει στους προγραμματιστές του Android να ενσωματώνουν δυνατότητες οπτικής αναγνώρισης χαρακτήρων (OCR) στις εφαρμογές τους.
The new Text API recently appeared in the updated Google Play Services (version 9.2), which restores Mobile Vision to make it easier for developers to add characteristics face detection and barcode reading functionality in Android applications.
The new OCR text technology can recognize the text in any Latin-based language, covering most European languages, such as English, German and French as well as Turkish.
It detects any text in real time from the device, just like facial recognition and barcode reading systems. This feature is suitable for real-time applications and gives developers similar capabilities to those offered by the Google app Translate.
In addition, developers will be able to use it to organize photos containing text, or automate the input of credit card, receipt, and business card data.
Μπορεί επίσης να χρησιμοποιηθεί για να ενσωματώσετε χαρακτηριστικά translationς μέσω του Cloud και με το Google Translate API. Εναλλακτικά, οι προγραμματιστές μπορούν να το χρησιμοποιήσουν για να ενεργοποιήσουν δυνατότητες προσβασιμότητας μέσω του TextToSpeech του Android.
The company also has an overview of how to integrate OCR functionality into Android applications.
On the other hand, Google downloads Mobile Vision to 9.0 as it indicates a serious bug and alerted developers to avoid adding new features until the problem is resolved.
The Mobile Vision API was released last year with Barcode and Face Recognition APIs. In addition to face recognition, applications could also identify a person's features, such as eyes, nose and mouth, as well as "understand" whether the faces are smiling or whether the person's eyes are open.
