Hacked Cosmote leaked data

Cosmote was hacked, as the company states in an announcement.

COSMOTE MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SA In an announcement, it informs that during the control of its systems, an unauthorized export of a file from the company's system was detected, as a result of a cyber attack. This file contained data, without name, of the calls made or received by mobile subscribers in the five days from 1/5/9 and specifically: telephone number, day and time of the call and its duration.

Additionally, device type, IMSI, age, gender, ARPU, base station coordinates and mobile of COSMOTE subscribers. These data are used by the company to optimize the network and the services provided.

"The file, as the company emphasizes in its announcement, did not include content of calls (conversations) or content of messages, names or addresses, nor passwords or credit cards or bank accounts. No action is required on the part of the customers".

And the announcement continues “the company immediately blocked access, took all necessary measures and informed the competent authorities from the first moment, as provided. The investigation of the incident is in progress and so far, there is no indication of publication or other use of the illegally obtained file.
