Το Πανεπιστήμιο εξέδωσε άμεσα μια δημόσια προειδοποίηση - έκκληση σε όλους τους ενδιαφερόμενους που τους προτρέπει να αλλάξουν τους κωδικούς πρόσβασης του λογαριασμού τους.Harvard University

Η ανακαλύφθηκε στις 19 Ιουνίου στα δίκτυα της Σχολής Τεχνών και Επιστημών και της Κεντρικής Διοίκησης. Προς το παρόν, η ταυτότητα του δράστη παραμένει άγνωστη, όπως ακριβώς παραμένει άγνωστος  και ο σκοπός της παραβίασης.

However, the attacker or intruders may have intercepted user names and passwords for access to individual computers, as well as e-mail accounts of University students and academics.

So everyone from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Harvard Divinity School, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, or the Central Administration will need to change the password they use to connect.

Those who had access to the Graduate School of Design, Harvard Graduate School of , Ηarvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, ή το Ηarvard T.H. Chan School of Public are prompted to create new passwords for their Office 365 or Icemail accounts.

Harvard has currently called in the services of outside experts to information security to investigate the case. The FBI was also notified to oversee the investigation.
