Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Hellas is donating computing infrastructure and services to the Ministry of Digital Governance and the GGSDD, in response to the battle to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
HPE contributes to the initiative DigitalSolidarityGR of the Ministry of Digital Governance by providing infrastructure for the "end to end" equipment of a contemporary Data Center.
More specifically, the offer concerns:
• 32 Modular Servers with more than 400 fire processors and 6,5TB of memory.
• Central storage system Hybrid Flash with a capacity of 150TB.
• 10Gbps network infrastructure In addition, HPE undertakes the installation and maintenance of the infrastructure, as well as the technical support 24 hours a day, seven days a week with expert engineers, free of charge.
The equipment will be made available to the General Secretariat for Information Systems of Public Administration (GGPSDD), of the Ministry. Digital Governance, for a period of six months with the possibility of extension, if deemed necessary, due to the circumstances. It will be delivered to the Computer Center of GGPSDD and after being installed and configured according to the instructions of the responsible Directorate, it will serve the increased needs of the users for telework that have arisen with the appearance of the pandemic.
In particular, the system resources are sufficient to support 1500-2000 demanding remote users in a virtual desktop environment (VDI) with full, controlled and safe access to critical applications to be selected.
In this way, the possibility of business continuity without restrictions is strengthened in a very critical part of the Public Administration due to the circumstances, with obvious benefits for both the state mechanism and the citizens. It comes to significantly strengthen an already established and fully operational infrastructure of the GGPSDD that allows teleworking to employees of the Ministry of Digital Government, the Ministry of Finance and the A.A.D.E.
Michalis Kasimiotis, Managing Director of Greece and Cyprus stated:
