Intel is going to acquire the company κατασκευής wearable συσκευών, Basis, για ένα ποσό που εκτιμάται από 100 έως 150 millions dollars, after winning the auction held by the company.
According to a TechCrunch post, Basis has been in discussions with several others Companies, including Google, and held an auction to apparently select the highest price.
Basis, which competes in the device wearables market with Jawbone and Nike applications, has managed to secure 7% of the market. Intel, on the other hand, has begun to be interested in wearables devices in recent years and has introduced many concepts such as a Bluetooth stereo with Siri and smart-chips at 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.
As far back as September, Intel has announced its Quark line of SoCs for use in wireless systems, but has yet to unveil one. The rival chip manufacturer, the Qualcomm, on the other hand, has already started building a SmartWatch (Toq) which is rumored to be used by HTC to develop its own wearable devices.
