3 methods to animate the dead battery of your laptop

Laptop batteries have a very short life span. Despite the recent improvements in lithium-ion technology, most batteries can only withstand a certain number of charge cycles before they start blowing up the top.

Of course, there are some steps you can take to increase their lifespan (such as “9 tips to extend battery life on your laptop"Or"How to Check Your Laptop Battery Status”). But none of this will help if your battery is already dead.

But is it possible to wake up a laptop battery's dead battery? Well yes. Let's look at three different methods and let's rate them in terms of convenience and efficiency with 10 excellent.

1 method: Freeze the battery
If the If you have a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) or nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery, you can try freezing it. But if you have a lithium battery (which comes with all Macs and most new Windows computers), don't try this method.

It may sound as unreal, but this method proves scientifically that it works. When you freeze a battery, you do two things: a. to fully fill your battery electrolyte so that the charging process can overcome crystallization and b. slowing down the movement of free electrons to put more electrons into the electricity stream.
Note: If your battery is extremely old, all electrons have probably leaked and this method will not work.

How does this process work?
First, turn off your computer, disconnect it from the power outlet, and remove the battery from your machine. Attention, if your battery is not removable, removing it from your laptop will void the warranty.
Then place the battery in a cloth bag and then place the cloth bag in another plastic food bag that seals with some kind of airtight zip. (Do not omit the cloth bag, add a substantial insulation layer, and make sure the plastic bag has an airtight closure to prevent moisture from penetrating and destroying your battery for good).
Place the plastic bag in the freezer for 10 hours. After 10 hours have elapsed, allow the battery to warm up normally at room temperature before replacing it on your computer.

The process is scientifically supported, but as we have already pointed out this process does not work with the newer lithium batteries. As for the nickels, despite the rumors that exist in the , placing your battery in the freezer will not charge it or improve its performance. It's just a way to access your dead battery due to memory.

2 Method: Excessive voltage
This is a method of waking up lithium batteries. Remember that lithium batteries will die if left unused for a long time. You should try to charge them all Operate with a lithium battery at least once every two days to maintain the health of the battery.

Warning: This method works, but it is dangerous. If you overload a battery for too long, the battery may explode. Wear eyeglasses in your eyes to perform this method and make it into a large, dirt-free area.

Before you start, you will need three things: a crocodile clip (or crocodiles - like small iron pegs with teeth), a thin cable and a portable charger or power supply unit. In terms of cable thickness, an Ethernet cable is enough, if you have an old one that you are willing to cut.

First, you need to identify the positive and negative poles of your battery. Because in addition to these poles there are others for other jobs, if you do not know which poles are the + and -, Google your battery model and find them there.
Then cut two pieces of cable around half a meter. One of these will play the role of positive cable, and the other one negative. On the positive cable, remove about 1 centimeters of the protective insulation from each end. On the negative cable, remove about 1 centimeters at one end and 2 centimeters at the other end.
When you are ready, connect one end of the positive cable to the positive pole of the battery and then plug the end of the 1 centimeter of the negative cable into the negative terminal of your battery.
Then connect the other end of the positive cable to the positive end of the charger. Finally, connect the end of the 2 centimeters of the negative cable to the negative end of the charger using two corresponding crocodile clips.
Turn on the charger to start generating power. Now you need to leave your battery for two hours. Show some when disconnecting the charger because there is a risk s. The charger should have the same voltage as your battery.
Reinstall the battery in your laptop to check if the battery wakeup has been successful.

Equally reliable with the cooling method and works with the latest lithium batteries. However, there is an explosion risk factor.

3 method: Replace battery cells
This is the most adventurous of the three cases. You can try replacing some (or all) items in your old battery with new features coming from either a battery that is running but not in use, or with completely new ones you just bought.

Once again, there are some critical warnings to keep in mind:
Replacement components must have the same chemical composition as battery starter (eg lithium ion).
New items must have the same nominal trend as the old ones.
New items must have the same or higher capacity as your old data (measured in mAh).
New items must be of the same physical size as the old ones.
You will also need a welding tool. Normally the right tool for battery welding is electroponics. The technique of simple brazing and thermal soldering is not suitable for batteries because if you did not do good welding then when they heat up, during their operation there is a risk of inappropriate contact with consequent additional heat release and so on until the end fire or explode or simply disconnect. In addition, the high welding temperature can damage the battery.

To get started, remove the battery from your laptop and unplug it. You may need a screwdriver or a knife.
Carefully open the battery from the plastic case with a knife, and inside the battery case you will see a series of separate items. Typically, they look like regular AA batteries. Each of these elements is connected to the others with wires or metal sheets. Be sure to note which cables go in and generally all of the pack's connection. Ideally, you should use a multimeter to make sure there is no potentially dangerous residual charge.
Separate the data from their cables and from each other using the welding tool, and remove them from the case. Then stick the new items together and with the plug that has the pack, and put them back in the pack in the correct position.
Finally, close the battery case and let it rest for 48 hours to ensure that you have done the welding job properly and will not get off after a few hours.

Rating: 4 / 10
Yes, the battery will work, but it requires welding knowledge, and the chances of having all the necessary tools are quite small. This method is aimed at people who "hold hands" and who like to do crafts.

However, if in any of the above ways you managed to wake up your dead battery, then make sure to monitor its health in one of the ways we have mentioned from time to time, such as "How to check the battery status of your laptop“, Or the“Windows 10 how to check your battery status"
