Kali Linux is a Debian-based distribution. Contains a very large collection of security tools and penetration tests.
The project just released a new one version for the year 2020 and brings a number of important changes. The new version, 2020.1, of Kali Linux merges the various desktop editions into a single option λήψηand removes the ability to run things as root by default.
“Throughout the history of Kali (and its predecessors BackTrack, WHAX and Whoppix), the default credentials have been root/toor. This is no longer the case. We no longer use him account superuser, root, as default in Kali 2020.1. The default account user is now a standard user with no privileges.”

This is a very big change, and the developers are asking you to report any problems.
