Kaspersky today released a press release with commentary by David Emm, Kaspersky Lab's chief security researcher.

We list it as follows:

"This is another case of violation that has become popular long after the incident itself, which underlines the need for regulation. We hope that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will enter into force in May of 2018, will prompt businesses to take first steps to secure their customer data and secondly to inform ICO of the violations in time. The best way to combat digital assault organizations is to establish an effective digital security strategy before they are targeted.

Customers who trust their private information to businesses need to be safe knowing that they are securely stored - and businesses need to use security solutions to significantly reduce the risk of a successful attack. There are other steps companies can take to provide full protection, including running fully up-to-date software, performing regular security checks, and performing penetration tests.

Consumers have no control over the security of their ISPs, but they can mitigate the risk of compromising the security of their ISPs. To this end, we recommend the use of unique, complex passwords on all their Internet accounts and we also urge users to take advantage of two-factor or two-tier authentication in cases where the provider offers this feature. ”
