Europe made a decision that by 2024 there will be a common charger in all of them electronic devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and cameras.
A historic agreement was reached between the European countries Unionwhich will force the manufacturers of electronic devices if they want to sell their products in the EU, to have a common charger for all devices.
And while companies have so long failed to agree on a common solution, the European Union now seems to be forcing them to do so. Besides, the Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton spoke "For a bigger economy for EU consumers and less waste for the planet".
The above historic decision for common chargers in all electronic devices was reached in principle by the negotiators of the European Parliament and the European Commission. The decision will be implemented in the autumn of 2024.
According to her, all mobiles phones, smartphones, tablets, e-readers, digital cameras, wireless headphones, portable speakers, and handheld video consoles should exclusively have a USB-C charging port, regardless of company.
And guess what… the decision also affects Apple, which is the only one that uses for its products chargers with Lightning cables and has expressed its opposition to this plan.
The decision also applies to laptop manufacturers who are also called upon to adopt common chargers, but with a longer grace period of 40 months, ie they have more than 3 years after 2024 to adapt.
According to the decision, the charging speed should be harmonized with devices that support it. Therefore, users will be able to charge devices at the same speed as any charger.
And the EU doesn't stop there. Based on the European directive, consumers should know if the chargers they are using now are compatible and they will be provided with clarifications about the features of the new devices. And they should be able to buy an electronic one device with or without its charger.
As you know companies like Apple sell separate gadgets like chargers and headphones.
The decision is expected to provoke reactions.
