Kim Dotcom seems to have kept his promise to release a competitor to Skype. The MegaChat, a new end-to-end encrypted audio and video chat program that can run from your browser.
The service launched today and is still in beta form. It is available for free to all registered users who can try it from the new domain acquired by Dotcom: Mega.nz. Dotcom said on Twitter that MegaChat users have made over half a million encrypted video calls since its launch.
Audio and video slopes are already in place and, as Dotcom said, text conversations and video conferencing will be soon near you.
To try it MegaChat, you will need to subscribe to Mega. Right after you can click on icon discussion in the left toolbar. So you can start one call audio or video with any of your contacts using the same service.
