Meltdown and Spectre: As all directly involved companies (Intel, AMD, and others) have started releasing CPU updates affected by the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities, OEMs and motherboards, they are not left behind and BIOS/UEFI updates are starting to be released for the affected computers.
Although not all companies have patches for vulnerable products, most of them have promised updates in the coming months.
These BIOS / UEFI updates are part of the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities that appeared earlier this year.
The fixes software at the operating system level have largely patched Meltdown, but both Microsoft and the Linux community said a firmware fix would be necessary to fully address the Specter vulnerability.
