Meta will not be able to cast advertisements based on personal data and will need users' consent to do so, according to a confidential EU decision on protection of privacy, a person familiar with the matter said last Tuesday.
The Irish data protection regulator data, which will make the final decision, was given a month's notice by the EU's privacy watchdog, the European Data Protection Board.
The decision by the Irish data protection regulator is likely to include heavy fines, as reported by the Reuters source.
