Microsoft along with the University of Applied Sciences of Austria are developing the first case that can act as a secondary touch screen, providing additional functionality to the phone screen.
The revolutionary case is called FlexCase, and it uses a piezoelectric circuit to detect all kinds of gestures, pressure on the screen and generally all shortcuts to perform special tasks.
As you can see such a case creates a wide range of new upcoming features since it can also be used as a clipboard for easy copying and pasting between applications.
"Touch and flex sensors can be combined to support a new kind of gesture, which we call Grip & Bend," Microsoft said in a description of the video below.
«Πολλές εφαρμογές θα χρησιμοποιούν τεχνικές αλληλεπίδρασης, όπως για την ανάγνωση e-paper, τη μεταφορά κειμένου με αντιγραφή-και-επικόλληση, την εύκολη διαχείριση 3D και 2D, και τη δυνατότητα να μεταφέρετε το content between screens in a natural and flexible way. "
It is worth noting that this case is still in the development stage, and this will probably see the cables hanging. If everything goes according to the plan, maybe Microsoft could start mass production at some point.
This case is clearly a very smart way to enhance mobile interaction by offering more features and functionality that are not yet available on devices that are already on the market.
We are talking about real innovation (if we finally see the case becoming reality), watch the video:
