Microsoft Moonraker: While Apple was making its own smartwatch, Nokia seems to have had its own suggestions for smartwatches. Sources familiar with Nokia's designs told the Verge that the Finnish company was developing the "Moonraker" SmartWatch, which with many elements from the aesthetics of the modern design of Windows Phone.
Some original devices even appeared at the Mobile World Congress last year. Nokia was planning to unveil its SmartWatch alongside Lumia 930, but Microsoft canceled the project before launching the Nokia phone.
Images of Microsoft's Moonraker, a codename the company used for its smartwatch, surfaced today on a blog by Tumblr and were revealed by Evan Blass.
The Tumblr's blog managed by Microsoft design employee Pei-Chi Hsieh, and apparently the images were made for purposes marketing and not for some concept.
Nokia Moonraker SmartWatch never came to market, mainly because Microsoft wanted to promote the development of its Band.
While Moonraker had a series of sensors that allowed you to lift your hand to read texts or download it to disable the screen, Microsoft chose Band's release because it believed it had more functionality.
Nokia borrowed the well-known "Metro" interface of Windows Phone and in combination with e-mail, phone and messages δημιούργησε το πρώτο SmartWatch της. Υπήρχε ακόμη και μια απομακρυσμένη λειτουργία κάμερας για να τραβάτε φωτογραφίες από το smartphone using your watch. There were also apps for Facebook and MixRadio.
It is unlikely that we will see "Moonraker" in the market, but Microsoft may be thinking of something new and more sophisticated for the future.
Microsoft is currently developing the second-generation Band. While the software platform for the upcoming Microsoft Band 2 will remain the same. What is expected to change is the appearance and feel of the device. The next generation of the band will be available later this year after the release of Windows 10.
