Microsoft renames SkyDrive's famous cloud storage service to OneDrive.
It does not change much, except maybe by the name, something that Microsoft says was quite difficult!
“Of course, changing his name productthe one we loved so much, SkyDrive wasn't easy. We believe that the new OneDrive name delivers the value it can offer you and represents better our vision for the future" said Ryan Gavin, general manager for applications and services to consumers.
He explains that they chose OneDrive because they want it to be the "place" where the most important things are stored.
"A place for all your photos and videos. A place for all your documents. A place that is completely connected to all the devices you use ", writes Gavin.
Current SkyDrive or SkyDrive Pro users won't need to do anything special except wait until the new commercial signal will make an appearance. The service will continue to operate as it does today but with a different name.
