A small step for digital equality has made Facebook today announcing that it will provide a new set of emoji designed specifically for Messenger, including options for skin tone and sex.
Messenger had previously released it emoji like me Colour yellow. But now you'll be able to choose the same emoji in five other skin tones, all approved by the Unicode Consortium. In addition, you will have at your disposal emojis that represent various professionals such as a police officer, a swimmer, or a surfer, in both male and female versions.
Facebook will also include emoji with unclear sex for those who do not want to clearly identify a particular gender.
Finally, you can choose the red as a hair color choice! When the new emotions are released, you will be able to set the preferred tone for your hair and skin color. If you do not, then the yellow will be selected automatically.
Facebook says the goal of these new emoji is not only to represent the diversity of its users, but also to have consistency across iOS and Android. The new emoji will be released globally tomorrow.
