In an effort to completely refresh their icons Windows 10 and all of its products, Microsoft announced in December that it would begin redesigning more than 100 icons.
Since then, the company has made several plans for upgrade of Windows 10 icons. And now, it seems Microsoft is very close to releasing them to the general public.
According to user u / MSFTBear and with his article on Reddit, Microsoft has started showing the redesigned icons in the bar work of Windows 10. These new icons are based on Microsoft's Fluent Design system and currently only appear on the taskbar.
Unfortunately, they're currently only available to Windows Insiders running the latter Insider Build. It also seems that Microsoft doesn't release all the new icons at once. For example, the “Windows Start” logo remains unchanged. But according to u/MSFTBear everything will be available to Insiders in a week or two.
Microsoft may want to receive feedback on these new trendy icons from Insiders and may also make some minor changes based on that feedback. At the end of the testing process, the company will promote these icons to all users.
For now, we'll have to wait for Microsoft to make an official announcement about when these modern icons will be released.
