Five years ago an NSA program ended in failure. A Reuters publication details how the USA attempted to infect North Korea's nuclear weapons program with a version of the Stuxnet virus.
The Reuters report states that the attempt contaminationIt took place around the same time as the successful attack on Iran's nuclear program.
The result of the second attack was to ruin some 1000 uranium enrichment centrifuges.
Reuters reports that the attack on Iran was a joint effort by the US and Israeli forces.
Something related went on to computers with North Korean computers, but the Stuxnet virus could not spread.
According to a source from the US secret services, Stuxnet developers developed a variant of the virus that could be triggered when meeting computer configurations in the Korean language.
But US agents could not gain access to the networks who ran Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.
NSA, of course, declined to comment on the Reuters publication.
