The content indexed in 73 digital collections of is distributed to individual digital libraries, archives and institutional repositories on the Internet and is difficult to locate by established search engines. The scientific content gathered in the upgraded infrastructure of is easily searchable and dynamic, as it is regularly updated with new collections, while the existing ones are constantly updated, following the process of producing and publishing the institutions providing their collections on the portal.

The collections come from 61 certified agencies from Greece and Cyprus, such as universities, research centers, scientific companies, public libraries, archives and collections of institutions. Therefore, the content of the collections covers a huge variety of thematic areas and is very diverse.

Utilizing OpenArchives' search engine, a user can identify books and studies from the field of Human Sciences, scientific articles and educational material from the Social Sciences sector, journal articles covering the range of both Natural and Agricultural Sciences, diplomatic work from the field of Medicine and Health Sciences and presentations at conferences with content related to the fields of Engineering and Technology.
