For too many years, Java plugins have put them at risk users with the numerous security gaps they include.
The security company Kaspersky claims that the Jana plugin is responsible for half of all cyber attacks in 2012. To mention that last July, hackers discovered an exploit and tried to infect the systems of NATO members.
The plugin allows developers to start small applications on web pages, and according to Oracle it will be completely removed from the Jana 9 release.
In fact, the company encourages users to leave utilities that use the Jana plugin and switch to free Jana Web Start technology.
Oracle's decision after Chrome and Firefox developers decided to stop supporting the company's plugins.
Hopefully, the Adobe Flash plugin will soon be retired.
