The Government of Ukraines called on Apple to stop selling its products and close its App Store in Russia.
Mykhailo Fedorov, head of the country's Ministry of Digital Transformation, asked Mr Tim Cook the support of the tech company with an open letter.
"Όλος ο κόσμος απωθεί τον επιτιθέμενο μέσω της επιβολής κυρώσεων — ο εχθρός πρέπει να υποστεί σημαντικές απώλειες... Το 2022, η σύγχρονη τεχνολογία είναι ίσως η καλύτερη απάντηση στα τανκς, και τους εκτοξευτές πυραύλων".
I've contacted @tim_cook, Apple's CEO, to block the Apple Store for citizens of the Russian Federation, and to support the package of US government sanctions! Fedorov concluded his letter to Cook, which he posted on Twitter, with what Ukraine hopes to gain if Apple leaves Russia:
"Είμαστε σίγουροι ότι τέτοιες ενέργειες θα παρακινήσουν τη νεολαία και τον ενεργό πληθυσμό της Ρωσίας να σταματήσουν την επαίσχυντη στρατιωτική επίθεση".
Ο Cook είχε αναφέρει προηγουμένως ότι η Apple κάνει ό,τι μπορεί για τις ομάδες της στην Ουκρανία και ότι "θα υποστηρίξει τις τοπικές ανθρωπιστικές προσπάθειες".
But so far the company has not responded publicly to Fedorov's appeal.
