When you delete one archive at computer your, only a reference to the file location is deleted. In other words, the file system simply "forgets" that the file exists.
But the actual data, the 0's and 1's, still remain on the disk.
Let's explain what happens in simple terms: These files will continue to stay there until your system writes new files to the comeye of the disk where the old ones were. During this time, recovery software can be used to recover "deleted" files.
