Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to your accounts on multiple chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends in XMPP and watch an IRC channel at the same time, or chat on Facebook Messanger.
Pidgin is running at Windows, Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems. Looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try it Adium!
Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber/XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons. Essentially the app can connect you with any network conversations that exist as long as you add the suitable addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Releases are usually frequent and come from user contributions such as bug reports and patches.
Pidgin is free and has no ads. All of our code is open source and available under the GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish the changes you made to benefit everyone.
