Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 768G processor

The first phones with the processor 765 from Qualcomm are just starting to hit the market but that's not stopping the company from announcing an upgraded version today called the Snapdragon 768G.

Snapdragon

The original Snapdragon 765G was announced in December 2019, alongside the standard 765 and the flagship 865. The two 765 processors were notable as the first of Qualcomm that has built-in 5G modems. (The Snapdragon 865, while including 5G by default, requires a separate cellular modem.)

The main difference between the regular 765 and 765G was the addition of a Qualcomm Adreno 620 GPU, which the company promised would deliver up to 20% improved performance over the standard 765. Qualcomm says it was able to improve this performance by GPU with an additional 15% on the 768G, in addition to its improvement CPU clock speed up to 2,8GHz from 2,4GHz.

Ο new Snapdragon 768G processor offers 5G and better performance in CPU and GPU compared to its predecessor. It will have a built-in Snapdragon X52 modem with support for both mmWave and 6G sub-5GHz, as well as compatibility with all 5G networks.

Like the original 765G, the 768G is primarily intended for gaming-oriented devices. It will make its debut in the Xiaomi Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition, which was also announced today.
