This will change soon. With the new Build 18323, Microsoft will release a codec package for Raw images through the Windows Store that will add native support for the RAW image format in Windows 10.
By downloading the new Raw Image Extension extension (still in Beta format) from Store, you can view thumbnail images, previews, and metadata of images from your camera directly in the folder that contains the photos.
You can also view your images in full analysis in applications such as Photos or any other Windows application that uses the Windows Imaging Component framework to decode images.
To be able to view RAW images in Windows 10
Before proceeding, be sure to install Windows 10 Build 18323. Then open this page in the Microsoft Store.
Click the Download button next to the name of the extension and wait until it is installed on your device.
Sign out and log in to your Windows user account.
The last step is necessary to allow File Explorer to correctly create thumbnails for RAW images.
From now on, you'll be able to view RAW images with the Photos app. File Exporer will also display thumbnails and previews of your files. If you have other apps projectionof images using the Windows Imaging Component framework will also support RAW images.
