And when we said that the smartphones' batteries stopped to explode, the news is that a Samsung model battery not only exploded, it also fired into a car and ended up killing its owner.
This time, however, it's not clear which Samsung model is responsible, as the owner owned two phones, a Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy S8. So it is difficult to determine which of the two exploded and eventually destroyed one Nissan Maxima. Samsung is already investigating the case and will likely give us more soon information.
Our information comes from WXYZ of Detroit, and reports that a female driver, who is on the condition of anonymity, barely managed to pull over and stop her car before it was engulfed in flames. The incident happened on the morning of May 21, when a woman was driving her car with the two phones placed in a glasscase.
Although the lack of evidence may raise doubts about this incident, the Detroit Fire Department has confirmed it, but without giving details of the investigation.
On the other hand, her lawyer, Mr. Gerald Thurswell, says that the driver after the incident has problem to sleep and states that he has already contacted the phone manufacturer.
Good news for Samsung is that it has not been treated so far. The bad news is that if Galaxy S8 is the cause of the fire then the news may cause new concerns to Samsung phone owners.
