You know that almost half of PlayStation gamers are Women; So Girl Power also in digital games.
No, this is not sexist news, we just did not expect it. Sony reported that Female Playstation console owners have grown dramatically since the PS1 era, significantly expanding Sony's gaming audience.
In a presentation to its investors, the Japanese giant noted that about 41% of PlayStation 5 and PS4 owners are women. Compare that to just 18 percent on the PS1, and you'll notice a clear demographic increase for female consoles.
On the other hand, this increase emphasizes the importance of rich, varied content in the gaming industry. PlayStation Studios has done a great job of differentiation in recent years, presenting strong female protagonists such as Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn and chloe frazer in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
On the other hand it is great to see more and more people playing digital games, as more users means more investment, and ultimately, better games and services for all of us. Sony notes that the expansion of demographics data in terms of age, gender and geography, all present growth opportunities for the company.
