The Prometheus of the National Technical University at Shell Eco Marathon

The "Prometheus" research group, which is made up of volunteer students from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (EMMY-EMTU) built the prototype vehicle "Pyrphoros II" with which he participated for the seventh consecutive year in the internationally renowned European fuel economy competition Shell Eco Marathon 2015.Shell Eco Marathon

The competition Shell Eco Marathon is under the auspices of the European Commission and was organized at 21-24 May in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

When participating in the competition, the team managed to compete with extraordinary success and travel 487 km with one kilowatt-hour (kWh) breaking down its own previous record.

He ranked 10 among 50 teams that participated in the Prototype Battery Electric Car and became the first Greek team to be in the top ten in this category.

As far as the electric drive system of the vehicle is concerned, it does not include commercial parts but has been made entirely by members of the team, utilizing know-how and technologies developed in the School of Electrical Machines and Electronics Power Engineering, essentially creating its own distinct category in the competition .

This year's effort incorporated these technologies as well as the experience gained from previous years into an improved prototype single-seat vehicle powered by a photovoltaic chassis and high performance.

In among the team's successes is the honorable distinction among more than 180 European entries in the competition, with the "Best Team Spirit off-track award 2013". Shell Eco Marathon
