Where did Skype go? The Windows 10 can run two types of applications: desktop apps i.e. Win32 applications but also UWP applications i.e. Universal Platforms Windows applications.
Many of the popular Microsoft operating system applications have both versions. For example, Minecraft has a Java version for use on desktops, but is also available as a UWP application from Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has pulled the Skype app from its official download page because it was discovered that the desktop app has a security flaw. The flaw is in the way the app searches for and installs them updates.
The application, as we mentioned in previous publication uses a DLL file that is stored in the Temp folder of any current user. So, since this file exists in a user's folder, anyone with user permissions can read and write files to it.
Microsoft has been notified of the problem, and has decided to withdraw the application installer from the official Skype download page. The company, however, enables Windows 10 users to use the UWP application.
Skype Alternatives
At present there are two alternatives. We mentioned this one and it is about installing the UWP version available in the Microsoft Store. The second is to use a different messaging application, such as Discord or Slack.
For users of Windows 7 who are banned using Skype, you can use it as long as you have an 7.40 or an earlier version. This is an older version according to the Microsoft forum that is not affected by the security vulnerability.
Unfortunately, this version does not exist in the official one by clicking here of Skype. You will need the offline installer which can install it 7.40 version. Beware of Scams, because it is possible for some to use the information for malicious purposes.
It should also be mentioned that the current Skype desktop application is in the 8.15 version, which means that the older version we recommend will not have all the features of the latest version.
