2009, its president Solar Flight Mr. Eric Raymond flew the solar-electric Sunseeker II plane over the Alps several times.
This August, he dared the same trip as the first two-seater of the Sunseeker Duo, which allowed him to take his wife Irena as a second pilot.
The Raymonds started from their base in Voghera, Italy at 2 August and started heading for Torino Aeritalia Airport. The following day, they flew to the Swiss mountain Mönch, and then landed at Munster-Geschinen Airport in Switzerland.
On August 7, they took off again and flew back to Voghera via the Matterhorn and the city of Genoa.
The return trip took four hours, and the pair reached a maximum altitude of 4.545 meters. They report that they could have flown higher if the plane had a double system oxygen.
The solar aircraft has a 22 meter feeder and 280 pound weight. In its wings 1.510 has solar panels concentrating the energy of the sun to store it in a lithium battery located on the shaft.
The aircraft engine has a maximum power of 25kW.
It was the first solar-powered aircraft that managed to fly with two people.
