A new Symantec report on malware found in May reports that cyber criminals were very active, creating around 44.500.000 new malware versions.
The outrageous number represents an increase over 50% compared to the previous month, which the company system recorded 29.200.000 new threats.
The month with the second largest number of malware is considered by Symantec's March systems, with the total number of threats reaching 35.800.000 samples.
Since the beginning of the year, the months with the lowest activity creationof new malware was February (perhaps because it has fewer days), with 26.5 million, and April.

The type of attachments that were in most malicious e-mail messages were DOC and DOCX files of Windows Word. These accounted for 40% of the total.
