The developer Ubuntu and Debian Iain Lane has informed the Ubuntu community that the upcoming Ubuntu 16.10 yakkety Yak has been in Feature Freeze since August 18, 2016.
The Feature Freeze development stage means that no new features will be added to the upcoming OS system, and the development team will focus on bug fixes and performance improvements before the official release of the final version of Ubuntu Yakkety Yak scheduled for October 13, 2016.
The first Beta version of Ubuntu 16.10 will be released next Thursday, 25, but will only be available for Ubuntu MATE, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu GNOME, and Xubuntu.
A second and last Beta will follow. The final version of Ubuntu Yakkety Yak as we mentioned earlier will be released on 13 October of 2016.
