Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo was released yesterday. If you are using an earlier version of Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish), below we will see how you can upgrade your system to the latest version.
Ubuntu 19.04 (Disco Dingo) like we also mentioned earlier publications it runs on the latest Linux Kernel 5.0 series and features the GNOME 3.32 version as desktop with environment, along with many other upgraded applications such as LibreOffice 6.2 and the browser Mozilla Firefox 66.0.
Upgrading from the older version of Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic Cuttlefish is essential as this distribution will be supported with updates until July of 2019.
Before starting with the upgrade process, however, it's a good idea to create a recent backup of your most important files on an external hard drive. Also, before you begin, make sure that the Ubuntu 18.10 installation on your computer is up to date. How; Just run the following command on a terminal:
Once you've done the above, you can start with the upgrade by running the following command at the terminal:
update-manager -c
The command will bring up the “Software Update” tool stating “New distribution release '19.04' is available.” Just click on the “Upgrade” button and follow the instructions on the screen you.
When the upgrade process is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer.
