The fourth point release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is available for download. Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS has been released in a new installation ISO that contains all the essentials updates security patches, bug fixes and application updates released in Ubuntu 21.04 since the first release i.e. Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS in August 2021.
Periodic updates to the installation ISO are a must in the long-term supported versions (LTS) as they reduce the number of updates after a new installation.
If useste already it Ubuntu LTS 20.04 and you install all the updates, you do not have to reinstall the operating system. You already have everything included in the new ISO.
Linux kernel 5.13 is the big lure of this release. It brings several modifications including better support of EXT4, a new driver cooling for modern Intel processors and better support for peripherals such as the Apple Magic Mouse 2 and the GK6X mechanical keyboard.
Other updates that come with the new ISO include GNOME Shell 3.36.8, LibreOffice 6.4.7.2, and Mozilla Firefox 97.
