The project leader Ubuntu MATE Martin Wimpress announced a few minutes ago the availability of the MATE 1.14 desktop environment updated to the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus release.

In a PPA (Personal Package Archive) you can find all the packages needed to upgrade to MATE 1.14.1 so that you can immediately upgrade and also get automatic updates for future releases of the MATE interface.
“You might be wondering why it took me two months to release this PPA. We have already tried version 1.14, so what you get today is the MATE Desktop bugfix in version 1.14.1. ”
To install the new MATE 1.14.1 on your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, you should first add the PPA repository and then update your OS by typing the following commands.
Add the new PPA to upgrade Ubuntu MATE. When you run the command you will be prompted to accept the inputtreatment of the PPA.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa: ubuntu-mate-dev / xenial-mate
Refresh the cached packet list to see Ubuntu update packages
sudo apt update
Upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade
