Google offers the opportunity to conduct a virtual tour in Versailles. You can tour the Palace of Versailles, see hundreds of works of art in ultra-high resolution, and on top of that, use all the Google Arts and Culture apps.
What is Versailles Palace?
The Palace of Versailles is the former royal residence of France. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette lived there when the French Revolution began in 1789. And now Versailles is a World Heritage Site UNESCO and one of the attractions in France.
For those who cannot visit the Palace of Versailles Google created a virtual tour dedicated to Versailles, its history, its inhabitants and the many works of art contained in the walls of its palace.
But Versailles was already part of it Google Arts and Culture app. So with the new virtual tour there are now 18 new virtual exhibitions with total 340 artwork, such as members of the royal family, archive photos of Versailles and more.
Virtual browsing is available as an application via Steam and is called VersaillesVR. Requires one of the following virtual reality headsets: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or Valve Index.
