Windows 10 is expected to be released in the second half of 2015, while the Technical Preview builds for those who wish to test the new operating system.
Information leaked through Window 10 build 10036 and published in the MDL forum reveals that Microsoft is preparing some new versions of the operating system that could be released later this year to better address all markets.
First of all, Microsoft will continue to offer the traditional Core and Professional versions of Windows 10, with the latest version including Media Center. Enterprise and Embedded SKUs will continue to be released. The version of Windows 10 with Bing appears as "Connected" according to new information leaked.
Existing Windows 8.1 with Bing SKUs have also been renamed “Connected,” so Microsoft is likely to continue offering a Bing-branded version of Windows 10. Windows 8.1 with Bing is offered to manufacturers at a lower price or even free, which could be a sign that the company is likely to follow the same path in Windows 10.
In the leaked screeshoot, they appear two SKUs. The first is the Education SKU, which is most likely a special edition of Windows 10 specifically targeted at the education sector and will come at a special price.
The second SKU has been codenamed “S”, presumably replacing the previous “N” versions that were available for Windows 8.1. The “N” versions carry the exact same features, but allow you to choose the default device media player but also the software for working with media files. These versions are designed for Europe.
Microsoft has not yet confirmed these versions for Window 10, and this is likely to happen only when the operating system reaches a more advanced stage of development.
