The WordPress.com CEO that supplies the 25 percent of the world's web sites announced the open sourcing of the company's code and API endpoints.
Matt Mullenweg, CEO of WordPress.com announced the news on his blog describing it project, codenamed Calypso. This particular project is the product of 20 months of work by 127 technicians and designers.
Unveiling the new, clean JavaScript platform that uses libraries such as Node and React to offer a whole new Web browsing experience, Mullenweg acknowledged that it was the missing key in WordPress that is now able to "surpass itself." ”
The new WordPress.com back-end interface looks very similar to the Medium, with new "discoveries" and "recommended" publications. The company also appears to have launched a standalone Mac app to help those with Apple computers get started with the new WordPress more quickly.
As far as WorPress.org is used by many to feed their web pages, changes will take time to appear as the new product is not yet compatible with WorrdPress.org sites at this time.
