As of today, July 17, 2018, the instant messaging app Yahoo Messenger of Yahoo ceases to operate officially. Small bad of course as there are dozens of other similar or even better services.
About a month or so, Yahoo announced the withdrawal of the Yahoo Messenger application from 17 July of 2018. Today is the day and Yahoo Messenger is officially disconnected.
For history, Yahoo Messenger was first released on 9 March of 1998.

Of course as mentioned above you can always use one of the services: Facebook Messenger, Viber, Telegram, Line or Skype for future live chats.
If you had conversations you need and you did not manage to get a backup, Yahoo gives you six months to do it. So if you are interested open the page and log in with the name and password you use. You will then be able to download the history of your conversations, which will be sent to your email.
According to the company, a new instant messaging application called Yahoo Squirrel is currently being developed. The company promises that it will better meet the needs of today's consumers and will be able to compete with existing messaging services by focusing on innovative and exciting communication tools.
Yahoo Squirrel will not be the replacement for Yahoo Messenger, but a well-organized messaging and speech messaging application. At this time, it's even available as a beta version for Android and iOS devices, but only through invitations.
