Microsoft has just released a new build for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program (Dev channel). The biggest change in this build is the availability of the new planning in the Start menu.
Windows 10 build 20180 doesn't bring any other new features, and Microsoft says that the tiles in the new Start menu is now live for everyone.
Prior to this release, the company only had the redesigned Start menu on some of the Insiders, as it was conducting tests to determine the reliability of the update.
There are also many small changes that users should be aware of when installing this new version.
First of all, the new folder icon in the Start menu is now small smaller, and Microsoft says it tried to align its size with the other icons. This has changed following user feedback.
Just like all other preview versions, this one comes with a number of known issues that you can see at complete changelog.
These updates personally leave me indifferent, as they aim for a nicer UI while the system presents problems for many users, usually those who use older hardware.
Either way, it's marketing used by Microsoft and requires full press releases even when a Windows developer is scratched.
The truth is that light (?) Windows 10 makes older machines look like caterpillars. And I do not think these users can find the solution just in a better (visually only) update.
The 5 stars refer only to your last paragraph, George.
I wrote it for you :)
