Facebook downvote and upvote: Earlier this year, Facebook confirmed that it was testing upvote and downvote buttons, like the ones used by Reddit, with the aim of improving speech quality on the platform.
As of today, the new feature appears to have been released to a larger number of users.
With the downvote button, Facebook essentially seems to trust them users of or at least testing it with some of them before releasing it publicly. The social network hopes they will use it to flag what Facebook considers "bad comments," which it defines as comments with "bad intentions or disrespect."
The larger social network points out that this is not a rival but we believe it will almost certainly be used in that way.
It should be mentioned that the specific feature that Facebook has chosen and hopes to do well has been around for some time in Reddit. There the downvote is often used to signal a disagreement or a confrontation.
Facebook probably wants to change this mentality, which will not be so easy. Of course we should not forget them trolls, who will celebrate with the feature that Facebook downvote gives them.
Right now mode not shown to all users of the social network. From messages circulating on Twitter, those with access to the new upvote and downvote feature appear to be in Australia and New Zealand.
