Reuters - Η Facebook Inc is reportedly developing its own video chat application, which is known internally as the company Slingshot, after a failed attempt to acquire the Snapchat mobile messaging service, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.
Facebok has been working for several months to develop a video chat application that will allow users to quickly send video messages using a touchscreen, FT said, citing people familiar with the company's plans.
The Slingshot application could be released this month, FT said, while pointing out that Facebok could eventually decide not to proceed with the release of the application.
The head of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg oversees the “extreme privacyυ” project after the social networking company was unable to acquire his Snapchat app, with the $3.000.000.000 offer he made to its creators.
Snapchat is very popular among adolescents, and allows users to send pictures that automatically disappear after a few seconds.
