The Federal Court of the European Communities has ruled that Facebook's 'Friend Finder' feature (finding friends) causes harassment (and more) to users.
In this feature of Facebook users are asked to grant permission to the social network to pull all the addresses of friends from the electronic post office or from the user's contacts applications.
If someone user grant permission, the social network begins sending invitations to non-Facebook users to register for the service.
The court concluded this is a misleading practice marketing, affirming the decisions of the two lower courts held at Berlin in 2012 and 2014. Those courts ruled that Facebook was violating German data protection law and using unfair commercial practices.
