Hidden Secrets of Windows 8.1 Update You may not know

Windows 8.1 Update is an important update for its platform Windows 8.1. They provide many UI improvements as well as functionality improvements (although the update brought essential features that were missing from earlier versions). While most of the changes are obvious, there are some new features that you may not have noticed, even if you have installed Update 1 since it went online.

Let's explore some of these little improvements.

    • Changes in app closure behavior: On the tablets after the of Update 1 by closing a current application the user is transferred to the previously used application. And correspondingly, in traditional computers, the shutdown of all  των εφαρμογών θα οδηγήσει τον χρήστη στο , και όχι στην αρχική οθόνη. Πριν την εγκατάσταση του Update 1, το κλείσιμο μιας εφαρμογής σας πήγαινε πίσω στην αρχική οθόνη.
    • Repeat menu for links in the Network window. It was removed without any obvious reason in Windows 8.1.

    • New features in computer settings: You can now change the PC name and domain membership from Settings > Change PC settings > PC and devices > PC info [PC Settings -> PC and devices -> PC info]. You can create a shortcut to open this directly using these instructions . Windows
    • Boot on the desktop, by default, for regular computer users : If you have a traditional computer without a touch screen, Windows 8.1 Update will take you to the Desktop screen by default when you start your machine. You can change this behavior from the "Taskbar and Navigation Properties" in the navigation tab (right-click on the taskbar and then go to Properties). Taskbar-and-Navigation-Boot-to-Desktop-1
    • The button it does not appear on tablets or slates : The Windows 8.1 Update has a separate power button on the startup screen (also called the Power Options button). However, this button is not visible for devices referred to in Windows as tablets or slates because these devices often have a physical shutdown button to shut down or have the Connected Standby feature that can put the device on stand by. If you have one larger than 8,5 inches that does not have Connected standby (InstantGo), then you will still see the power button on the home screen. Start-Screen-with-shutdown-button
    • Notify recently installed apps : When you install a new program or application, Windows 8.1 Update will show you all the newly installed applications you have with a notification next to the down arrow that will take you to the Apps View. new-apps-installed-counter
    • New View of Apps : You can see more applications on one screen in AppsView, as there is a setting that compacts the tiles. From the Apps screen, hover over the bottom right> Settings> Tiles> Say YES to Show More Apps in Apps View
    • The "Minimize" button may be hidden in Modern / Metro applications: In Update 1 the Metro applications have their own window which contains the new "Minimize" and "Close" keys. But you can choose to hide the Minimize button for modern applications following the instructions below.
    • "Tap and a half" is a new, more intuitive gesture for touch screens - allowing you to double-tap the screen but holding down the second tap to highlight a text or object, and then , drag and drop it.
