Hidden Secrets of Windows 8.1 Update You may not know

Windows 8.1 Update is an important update for its platform Windows 8.1. They provide many UI improvements as well as improvements (although the update brought substantial features that were missing from earlier versions). While most of the changes are obvious, there are some new features that you might not have noticed, even if you've had Update 1 installed since it hit the internet.

Let's explore some of these little improvements.

    • Changes in app closure behavior: On tablets after the application of Update 1 by closing a synchronous application the user is transferred to the previously used application. And correspondingly, in traditional computers, the closure of all  of the applications will lead the user to the Desktop, not to the home screen. Before installing Update 1, closing an application went back to the Home screen.
    • Repeat menu for links in the Network window. It was removed without any obvious reason in Windows 8.1.

    • New features in computer settings: You can now change the PC name and domain membership from Settings > Change PC settings > PC and devices > PC information [PC -> PC and devices -> PC info]. You can create a shortcut to open this page directly using these instructions . Windows
    • Boot on the desktop, by default, for regular computer users : Εάν έχετε ένα παραδοσιακό υπολογιστή χωρίς οθόνη αφής, τα Windows 8.1 Update θα σας πάνε, από προεπιλογή, στην οθόνη Desktop όταν ξεκινάτε το μηχάνημά σας. • The power button is not displayed in tablets or slates : Windows 8.1 Update has a separate on-screen power buttons (also called the Mode Options button). However, this button is not visible for devices reported in Windows as tablets or slates, because these devices often have a natural shutdown button to shut down or have the Connected Standby feature that can put the device in standby mode. If you have a tablet larger than 8,5 inches that does not have InstantGo, you will still see the power button on the startup screen. Start-Screen-with-shutdown-button
    • Notify recently installed apps : When you install a new program or application, Windows 8.1 Update will show you all the newly installed applications you have with a notification next to the down arrow that will take you to the Apps View. new-apps-installed-counter
    • New View of Apps : You can see more apps on one screen in the AppsView [AppsView] since there is a setting that condenses the tiles. From the screen of apps put the mouse in the far right > Settings > Tiles > Say YES to Show more apps in the apps view
    • The "Minimize" button can be hidden in Modern / Metro apps: In Update 1 Metro applications have their own window which contains the new "Minimize" and "Close" buttons. But you can choose to hide the Minimize button for modern apps following the instructions below.
    • Tap and a half is a new, more intuitive gesture for touch screens - allowing you to tap the screen twice, but holding the second tap to highlight text or an object, then , make it drag and drop.
