Internet 2019 broke the April morning

April Fools' Fun was once before the Internet. It is a day full of pranks online that crunch like press releases. They are usually fun and other times they can even turn malicious. Microsoft this year announced that he is not going to publish a hoax, let's see who else will follow her.

Internet

BBC's famous BBC hacker 1957, which announced that they are making pasta from trees, certainly did not manage to trick some, but it was funny. With little knowledge or research, you could discover that this is not possible.

The spaghetti published by the BBC on April 57 was not released again and again by thousands of other stations, as opposed to the internet, where you can find the same news in hundreds of pages a few seconds after its original publication.

The Internet is different. Tech companies often “announce” which could really be real, but aren't, because of April Fools' Day.

Of course, to make matters more confusing, their crazy announcements that day might be real. Gmail announced the news on April Fool's Day 2004 and not many people believed that Google could offer 1 GB of storage in the new email.

Hotmail only provided 2 MB (0,2% of Gmail's storage) at that time. So if Google publishes a self-riding bicycle, there may be victims.

Δεν μιλάμε όμως μόνο για τις παραπλανητικές ιστορίες. Ορισμένες φάρσες μπλοκάρουν τον κόσμο και προκαλούν προβλήματα. Η φάρσα της Google "small drop" το 2016 ανέφερε ότι η εταιρεία πρόσθεσε ένα κουμπί στο Gmail που αρχειοθετούσε το τρέχον email, το απενεργοποίησε και έστελνε ένα GIF του Minion. Πολλοί άνθρωποι κατά λάθος έκαναν κλικ σε αυτό το κουμπί, αλλά και το Gmail έτρεχε μόνο του την λειτουργία τυχαία ακόμα κι αν δεν το κάνατε! Έτσι ξαφνικά το Gmail απενεργοποιούσε τα εισερχόμενα μηνύματα και κανείς δεν μπορούσε να δει τις απαντήσεις. Ήταν φάρσα αυτή;

After that, at least one company got the message. Microsoft announced last week via Chris Capossela, that it is banning employee participation in April Fools' Day pranks this year.

I believe that many may have devoted time and resources to these plates, but I think we have more to lose than to win by trying to be fun this day.

Let's mention that Microsoft has a leading role in the internet and its decision may affect others. But let's remember that the company in the past faithfully followed the tradition of April Fool's Day. In 2014, for example, he announced the return of Clippy to the web of Microsoft Office.

The big problem with this day is that it doesn't change anything from the previous ones. The last we live a constant April Fool's Day with fake news flooding our news feeds. The internet, meanwhile, gives every bitter person the chance to play it cool on their friends by rebroadcasting an unbelievable news story, which just happens to be fake.
